Official grading matters
Hand/spindle-stripped and decorticated Abacá use different Philippine National Standards. AGE keeps these classifications separate in quotations and contracts.
Philippine commercial grades selected under the applicable national grading standard. The exact grade is matched to cordage, fibercraft, woven material, specialty paper or other buyer applications.
A separate official grade system for decorticated fibre. Every offer states the declared AD grade, origin, length, strand size, colour, packing and inspection basis.
Selected fibre or processing lots for tea-bag paper, filtration media, security and specialty papers. This is an end-use specification, not a substitute for the official fibre grade.
Important: Abacá is also called Manila hemp, but it is not true hemp and it is not ordinary banana pseudostem fibre. It is extracted from the leaf sheaths of Musa textilis and is classified separately under Pakistan PCT 5305.0020.
Technical specification
Strength, colour, cleanliness, texture and strand size vary across official grades and stripping methods. Final acceptance follows the declared grade, approved sample and agreed inspection standard.

Philippine supply can change with crop conditions, weather, disease pressure, grade mix and processor allocations.

Final payload is confirmed through the supplier packing list, bale dimensions and carrier limits.
Philippine routing may use Manila, Cebu, Davao or another agreed port; Ecuador-origin offers may route through Guayaquil. CFR/CIF Karachi, FOB origin, L/C at sight or approved bank-backed terms can be evaluated.

Classification note: Pakistan’s FY 2025–26 tariff specifically lists raw Abacá under PCT 5305.0020 within heading 53.05. Final classification, duty, taxes, permits and filing requirements must be confirmed by the appointed customs agent before shipment.
